==SNIST==

===Sree Nidhi Institute of Science and Technology===

SNIST stands for Sree Nidhi Institute of Science and Technology. This, as you might have guessed is the official name for the college.

There are many unofficial Long forms of SNIST that will not be mentioned here because of the abundance of hatred and expletives that they contain.

SNIST is located about twenty kilometers from one remote corner of [[Hyderabad]], a wonderfully mental city, at a place called yamnampet, close to ghatkesar.

The easiest way to reach SNIST is to take a train leaving from [[Secunderabad]](another wonderfully mental town) station and jump off the train about twenty minutes into your journey.

You haven't a very good chance of making it alive, but you'll still be in better condition when compared to most of the students inside the college.

SNIST was started in 1995, a result of a great (in length, not idea) dream by a very bored soul.

The college has a perpetual "work in progress" look about it, which makes it very distinctive, and all the more hate-able for the students.

The students of SNIST are either very unlucky or very stupid(sometimes both). The college is run by a bunch of anal warts, all of whom are extremely unhelpful and very stupid (and mostly underqualified).

Students from this college, however manage to do quite well for themselves. This fact, by itself, proves that the whole concept of college education is complete BS.

The SNIST web-site can be viewed at [http://www.snist.com snist-official-website]

It is an absolutely useless website, and is often used as an example of "how not to design a web-page" by the students and lecturers of many colleges.

Some seriously useful information about snist can however be viewed at [http://snist03.blogspot.com snist-un-official-website] where a small bunch of hilarious students have posted what now happens to be the most popular pieces of text about SNIST on the www.

===What you need to watch out for : ===

====== Football ground======

The road into the college leads right up to a small land-mass that might have once looked a

little like a playing field, but now has degenerated into a large mole-infested ant-hill.

====== Campus-wide Wireless network======

A new campus wide network has been installed recently at the college at the cost of a neat

one Crore Rs. This network is, at present, being used by a grand total of four computers,

and one laptop.

====== Basketball court======

The SNIST basketball court is ridiculed at almost every basketball tournament in the city,

and the management of the college has been promising "a new concrete court next year" for

the past six years.

====== Canteen======

The SNIST canteen has been likened to (a) A generator room (b) A cycle stand (c) The

work-men's quarters and (d) Staff toilets

If you value your stomach and your life, you will be well advised to not visit this place

no matter how hungry you may be.

====== Staff======

Staff at SNIST range from ridiculously underqualified 20 year olds, who cannot speak a word

of English to Senile old men who passed the age of retirement before the second world war

(not surprisingly, they are under-qualified too).

====== Clock-tower======

Actually, if you do manage to find this clocktower, please do fill this in.

[[SNIST clocktower]]

====== Toilets======

The toilets here can not be described. They have to been seen to be believed. I'm sorry, but

such is life.

===JNTU===

An article about SNIST would never be complete without a reference to the university it comes under.

[[JNTU]] Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University

This university is known for consistently inconsistent paper evaluations, myriads of unknown colleges in bewildering locations, sporadic cultural and sports activities, and general nonsense.

Stolen from www.snistblog.com

Came across this site in the youtube video comments. This was a post about Udaya kumar leaving the college blah blah. It seems his parting message was:
"get married, have lots of children, help others when they ask you for it"

lol

Some of his quotes:

...ahh Open those windows...
...this place stinks(do u know the difference between a cow & a buffallo)...
...the way you dress and the way you address are very important...
...I am sorry if it hurts you but believe me its the truth...
...Come to my cabin I will show you what I am...
...as the saying goes...Better late than never...
...When i was in Morrocco, my students rated me 4.5 on 5 point scale...
...Disinclination to learning when it is a Dire Necessity is a Crime of the Highest Order...
...I like to take the bull by its horns!!!!!!!! ...
....i'll crush u with my iron hand....
...in a lighter vein or nothing derrogatory about it !...
...i dont give a shit...
...I WILL CUT IT & trust me, i am not talking about your tails...
...I firmly believe in it...
during attendence: for girls:konchum aagavamma...for guys: em babu aagatledha...

I actually laughed at loud at some of these. It was so much fun - a 100 people making fun of people like him. Have a good laugh :P

Remember this?

Definitely a bad question to ask. Its legendary and unforgettable! Read the comments people have posted and laugh :P

Tiger, Tiger, Burning Bright!

It's been almost two months since I joined Tiger-Tail. Time's flown.
I'm having a really good time here. Working with a great bunch of guys, really smart and funny too, which makes for a great work environment.

A few things have happened since I left TCS. Went on a biking-trekking tour, travelled through many of the hill stations and ghats around Pune. Lots of very beautiful places. Had a really nice time doing that.
And then I rode back to Hyd from Pune. Rode through the night, which was exciting and rather stupid at the same time.

Now I'm slowly getting into the working man's routine...except that I get to do weird things at work that most offices won't allow.

No updates on the personal/private/love life! I'm still the same old crazy, selfless, hungry, makes-no-effort-to-talk-to-new-people, slightly bored me.

I've realised, being in college gives you more things to write about. Whether it is more cribbing about how terrible the system is, or crazy jokes about people in college.
Need to get some stupid random humour posts in here soon. This place is looking way too sober!

Darn the comments limit

Ok, what started off as a comment to razors post has now bloated into this!

Now to answer what I'm doing.
me, well...
Got interested in tennis. but figured out it has too much sweat involved, so I now play on a table.
Started playing billiards, but the other day some girl told me "you are not supposed to whack the ball like that", so I guess I was playing some other variant , maybe its called freestyle pool.
Talking of pool, I went swimming the other day with my jeans pants. What happened in the pool, outside the pool, and in the car is left to your imagination.

Talking about other things, I am now in the ISA committee, so the current president of ISA asked me to write an email to the group on his behalf. ( a blatant mistake indeed )

The email is posted below:

Hi junta,

Its been almost 3 weeks since the new ISA committee took over, and for many it would seem - they haven't done any thing. But that is not true (well not entirely :P )
I am Krishna Chaitanya the current president of ISA . Many of you must have seen me (in 4 seasons or elsewhere(in which case I would be surprised)), some of you don't know me, a few of you know me, and a couple of you hate me (which is irrelevant). But I am writing this mail today to introduce myself and my committee, and to share with you a few things that we as a committee have planned.

Firstly the Committee:
We have a big committee this time, 9 in total:
P - myself (it would be nice if someone else can complete this.( Someone great at flattery ))
VP - tosifa ( her mails can be compiled into a trilogy of 55 parts, whatever )
GS - ravi ( the guy with a built in statistical data analyzer module )
JS - niarnjan ( wrong spellings - the easiest way to irritate him :P)
T - deval ( contrary to the popular legend, this is a girl )
SS - srikanth ( check his pic on the ISA site :P )
CS - neha ( Not just, 1st 4 letters of the English alphabet )
PRO - nipun ( whatever :P )
WM - ravi ( F.U.N. (for further details contact me) )

Fine,
Now for the 2nd part of the mail

The past few weeks we have been discussing a list of things to implement.
We the ISA, are planning to organize a few events in the coming months and
we are trying our best to make ISA active once again. I will list a few few of those things here:

On june 28th we are organizing
Holi in Johnson field. FREE Colors (and snacks!!)

The future events that we are planning are:
->A Sports event,
->A cultural performance.
->freshers party/Desi night for new students.

ISA would greatly appreciate your suggestions on these
events.

Holi would be a big event and we will release the fliers very soon and send it to the list server.
It would be great if you can tell this to your desi and non-desi friends, and help us in making this a fun event!

One other change you would see is - the ISA website. By this month end we will have a new website, with lost of new features. We have a few other things planned, I will let you guys know about it once those things get finalized.

Well, thats all for now, you can read more about what we are planning at http://unm-isa.blogspot.com/ .

Thanks,
ISA President

So the email was sent, and now officially we are the most hated group, but the thing is everyone in this groups hates me, which makes me the most hated person on campus.

And yes, there was this bed bug epidemic, but it only seemed to occur on my bed. I had already kicked out 2 beds, but having figured out that this wasn't helping me financially, I switched to the couch. This was before someone reminded me of those sprays which come in nice bright coloured (fuck the americanized spell check) tin cans.
One thing lead to another and now we are trying nice expensive room fresheners.

Well thats all for now.
Hope you guys are having a better time!

-V

Emmm..lemme see....

I seriously don't have any idea as to what the title of this post will be. Really nothing much has changed since I last posted here. Same office, same celebrations (we celebrate work), same stupid time pass work. Not going to stand this much longer. I am going to leave soon.

Oh yeah I completed 1 yr @ office ...so I am now officially an experienced guy lolzz.

Gave GRE in march and got a decent score of 1510. Giving a shot at CAT as well. Let's see what happens.........

Met Beasthu, Zaphod,Jingichiki,AJ,Ooru,Rocky few weeks back, We had lunch and I was obliged to come to Runway 9. :P Had a good time over there.

What else..What else...been doing some reading nowadays. From Paulo Coelho to Douglas Adams to Ruskin Bond. The most recent one happens to be a book called "The Sinking of INS Khukri" by Ian Cordozo. Ohh yeah read a book called "Who moved my cheese". I think its a booklet, it has only 40 odd pages, but the content was good. Not like your average self-help book.

That's it from my end for now. Would like to know what Hijake and Vizgoth are doing.

Our Kerala trip

Reached Hyderabad on the 15th of May. Met a few (Ajay, Varmamoo, Vanka, Harinath, Bombo, Moddhu, Ooru Pradeep to be precise) of our classmates before we (Me with family) left for Kerala. Was nice to see them after such a long time.

Kochi was the first place on our list. Reached there by air and stayed there for a night. Kochi is a nice place with a nice climate (somewhat hot, humid. I like such a climate unlike most). Kerala is a nice place in a lot of different ways. A lot of greenery spread through out the state, very hospitable people, no beggars (not even in front of temples!), etc. Visited a few places there like the Cochin shipyard etc.

The next morning we started for Munnar and reached there by afternoon. The journey was awesome with some breathtaking views enroute. The next 2 days we stayed at Munnar and visited places in and around Munnar. I did a great job of forgetting to charge the batteries in the digicam one day. So we couldnt take any pics the day when we visited the best place near Munnar - The Eravikulam National Park, the home of the extremely rare Nilgiri tahr, a type of goat. Its a terrific place. Must visit I would say. You get a view of the highest peak in South India - Anai Mudi, from this place. Theres a 3D, 2N trekking programme to the top of that peak. Would be a great one to do with friends I am sure.

After Munnar, we went to Thekkady, another supposedly good place to visit in Kerala. It has the Periyar Tiger Reserve and a few other places to visit. Theres a 2 hour boat ride in the Periyar lake which is in the middle of the jungle. You get to see some animals - elephants, tigers, deer, etc in the wild. We, unfortunately didnt see too much. Got to see some elephants from very far and nothing much worth noting.

We then went to Kumarakom where we took a house boat to Aleppuzha. Was a really cool experience sailing in the backwaters of Kerala for a full day including a stay on the boat for the night.

Overall, Kerala rox. Munnar super rox. Everything is very expensive at all these places though - food, water, you name it. Heavily commercialized, sadly.

Back at home now. Uploaded some pics too.

Met the super busy Josh boy yesterday. Had a really nice time.

Others, please post more frequently!

A new page

In the book of life.

Been working at TCS for six months now. And that's six months too many.
Wrote my resignation letter last week. Hopefully I will be out of here by the end of the month.

Going to join a tiny start-up company in hyderabad called TigerTail Studios. I think it should really be fun working there except for the ride up and down. Hyd traffic is still a killer.

I'm planning to take a week or so off after TCS lets me go. To travel the ghats here. It isn't very hot here in pune, thankfully. So a bike ride in the western ghats should be a lot of fun.

Apart from this, things are pretty much same as ever.
Have hardly been playing Age these days. Playing some badminton.
And watching movies and southpark takes most of my free time.

I've had an awesome couple of weeks.
Took time off from TCS to go meet the company in hyd, which was fun.
Stayed home for a few days after I missed my train back to pune.  :P
And I have gone to office only once(for 4 hours) since I came back.

So I should be back in Hyd sometime next month.
Thankfully, I'll miss the worst of the summer. The weather in Pune is really awesome for this time of the year. It does get a little hot, but the evenings are really pleasant. And since I know that Hyd is boiling at the moment, this weather seems amazing!

Hope everyone is alright.
-K.

Oh, Here's a little something I made.

One for each of us. Shouldn't be too hard to guess.

desperation from within hesitation from without

The title is cool and ridiculous(which is good) but has nothing to do with what I am going to post.(but not really)

In my previous post I was talking about some weird stuff which I did in US, and people told me that I have changed after coming here.
Which is true in a way. For starters lets talk about my humility, now its vanished to the point where, being proud of ones fart and saying that its the best in the world seems like THE thing to do.(whatever). But without external stimuli things internal seldom change. So in a way , the people around me should be given partial credit for most things happening here.
The other change in me is, now I am an awesome cook!, well not really, but at least I can pretend to be one! Then the other thing is probably my dressing style(pathetic according to some here) but I have at least managed to shift from the normal formals!
But then, the thing which has changed the most is probably the way I speak to girls. Now I use F words on them like as if I am doing them a favour(and am proud of it). Then there is this incident where I called a girl 'lesbian' and then she made a big issue out of it. The result- I was banned in desi circles here. which is irrelevant. But the thing to note here is: now I don't shy away from things, and I have become so much more shameless and idiotic. For instance, once I asked a guy if he wasn't waiting for 'that other girl', when he was with some other girl. The result - well forget this part.
But its not just my social life which is screwed. My student life is messed up as well. But I will talk about that and more in my next post.
So until then, fuck those bloody citizens and kill those illegal immigrants.

More Time to kill

I went back home for the weekend.
And when I was in the train, the night got me thinking(as always) about lots of stuff.
Anyway, I wrote some stuff on the train. Will post that here.

[paste]
I miss everyone.
I miss the times we had.
I can't stand work. Will do some more college stuff.
MS, MTech, MBA, MCom, MA, anything. Just have to do something else.
This shit is absolutely pointless.

I miss, most of all, having time for myself.
Time to do whatever the fuck I feel like doing.

Time to go out for no reason, time to play AoC for endless hours without stopping for sleep.
Time to go to Abhi's place and talk about players and games and arbit topics and crib about college.
Time to go to Dhaval's place and hang out in weird places, eat weird things and talk about anything under the sun.
Time to cycle over to Jeet's home and play noob CS, watch dumbass movies and tease each other for no apparent reason.
Time to go to Neeru's house and play with Snoopy, watch crazy videos and laugh like mad for hours (and invariably eat breakfast or lunch or dinner)
Time to cycle super long distances.
Time to stare at people when no one can think of what to talk about.
Time to spend online chatting with ten people at a time, and mixing up conversations often.
Time to play football and basketball on the weekends.
Time to spam on the Indus forums with the gang.
Time to play with Kefa.
Where, oh where has all the time gone.
[/paste]

Pink Floyd's "Time" has such amazing lyrics.

"Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun. "

I need to be able to blame someone for all the shit I'm in.
I can't blame myself, you know. :P

So I figure there must be a god, if only to put the blame on!
or as Calvin replies to Hobbes question : "So you think there is a god?"
"Well, someone's out to get me!"

Lover boys

The blog has been inactive for a while now. Thought of posting something but there's nothing much to post apart from me getting bored of studies. So I was bored and was going through the ooty trip pics. I found this one and before i knew it, I was rofl'ing.

Just look at both the faces. So happy in love!

Always with me always with you

I'm not sure what exactly is always with me and always with you,
but it seemed like a nice Title.
(It is also the name of the song  I am listening to at the moment!)

SSB was last week. Both Dhaval and I didn't make it. So there go the airforce plans.
Back at pune for now. TCS didn't miss me, as expected.
The SSB was a great experience, we had a really nice time there in Mysore.
Loads of really fun tests like group tasks and the obstacle course where both of us surprised ourselves. It was 6 days I won't forget for a long time.

Stayed with Abhi for a couple of days after the SSB. Was nice to relax for a bit and just talk to someone. IISc is a wonderful place.
Like Abhi says, it'll be nice if all of us are able to catch up sometime. This summer maybe, when everyone might be in India.

I guess it is time for me to figure out what I am going to do in the near future. Maybe I'll shift jobs or something. Would like to go back to hyderabad actually. I wonder how things will work out.
I suppose a higher education is inevitable now. I definitely cannot continue on this B-tech we managed to fluke through for much longer.

Let me know if anyone has any ideas, because I seem to be running out of decent ones.
Thinking of game programming at the moment. Lets see how things work out regarding this.

Sadly, apart from all the boring work related stuff, I have nothing to report.
I really miss Kefa!

Oh well, that's the end of this super-boring update. More updates as events warrant.

Getting bored of academics

Really. All this seems so pointless. Donno what the hell I am going to do post M.E.. However, I am really enjoying my stay here at IISc doing almost everything but studying :D. Been playing badminton for a while, will be learning swimming in the next sem., doing some general reading, etc.. Basically enjoying my time here. Our scholarship has been hiked from 5K pm to 8K pm :D

When are the US boys coming home? sometime soon I hope. Hope to have a very nice summer with all the BTech friends meeting up or something. I really hope thats possible.

Keep posting and keep this thing active :P

Money for Nothing

TCS survives without me doing any work at all. What an amazing discovery.

Well, I'm planning to stay here for another month. No more hopefully!
The SSB should be sometime at the end of this month.

Really feel like getting into gaming nowadays.
Gaming is going to explode in India. I'm sure of that.
If I don't make it into the Airforce, I'm first going to take some time off and travel.
And then, find out about what skills a person needs in the game development industry.
Learn them/take courses or something or maybe even a higher education! :$ (Will wonders never cease!) and then do something fun! =)

Life is going on otherwise. Office Monday to Friday. Gymmed for a week and then got bored! :P

Cut my hair finally. Must've lost a couple more Kilos with that.

Going to goa next weekend. For an AoE tourney. More for the fun than for the prize.

Nothing much else going on. Might be taking part in a few sports events here in TCS.

Skipping most of my training sessions here. Haven't gotten into any trouble yet! :P
Apparently that's pretty difficult to do in the Industry.

Spending weekends with the Indus gang here in pune. Quite a bit of fun except for all the marathi.
Weekends rock. I wish we had a four day week or something! Started playing badminton. Abhi, next time we meet, we'll play. I'm still learning though. Only played for two weeks so far.
Getting sort of decent though. =)

Will post sometime later. If anything happens. :P

P.U.L.S.E

I didn't know what else to name this post. I had one of the best nights of my life last night. I was at a concert with "the machine". For those who don't know, the machine is the oldest and best pink floyd cover band. They have been playing since 1988. That's 20 years as a cover band!!

After the concert last night, I felt like that maybe pink floyd were the cover band and the machine was the real deal. The front man was gilmore and waters put together. The performance was so good that It was pink floyd's PULSE all the way! I was in the very first row with my gang and when the band played songs like high hopes, wish you were here and the wall, there was nothing I could do but sing along with awe. Every floyd effect was covered to the minutest detail. I got to meet them later after the show and they were really nice and gave away signed t-shirts and cd's

I don't know what else to say other than that this was an awesome start to the semester and I really wish that you guys can see these people live some day. It's pretty much the closest anyone can get to pink floyd.

Till then try to catch their videos on the tube!

ciao
